🎓 week 6 - Universities : Shaping a Sustainable Future 🌱

📖 In Week 6 of SCSH1201, we explored something powerful the role of universities in building a sustainable future.

It really made me think: 🧠💭
Universities are not just about lectures, exams, and assignments. They are factories of future leaders, thinkers, and changemakers!

Our lecturers reminded us that real education is about developing the mind, the heart, and the soul not just producing workers for industries.

🌍 How Universities Support Sustainable Development

Some points that really stood out to me:

  • Teaching with purpose: Universities should teach knowledge and values, like responsibility, justice, and care for the Earth 🌿

  • Holistic education: Not just IQ, but also EQ (emotional intelligence) and SQ (spiritual intelligence) 🧠💖

  • Research for humanity: Universities should prioritize research that benefits the people, especially the "bottom billion" who need sustainable innovations most 📚🌎

  • Community engagement: Students and lecturers should work with real communities to create change, not just sit in classrooms 🚀

I loved how they linked it to Islamic principles like khalifah (stewardship) and ta’awun (cooperation for good). It’s a reminder that sustainable development is a trust from Allah, not just a UN goal.

📚 COVID-19’s Impact

The pandemic changed everything. 💔🌍

  • It made universities rethink how they teach: more online, more flexible.

  • It also pushed for stronger community roles universities must help societies heal, rebuild, and grow sustainably after crises.

💡 Daily Takeaways for Students Like Us

  • Study not just for yourself, but for your community 🤝

  • Think big how can your future career help the planet and humanity? 🌱

  • Always keep ethics and empathy at the center of whatever you do 💬💖

🌟 After this week, I realized that sustainability begins with education.

  • Universities aren’t just preparing students for jobs  they’re preparing us to lead a better, fairer, greener world. 🌏🌿
  • And we, the students, have a role to play starting today. 🚀💚

     Our Sustainable Development journey in SCSH1201 officially began this week with an engaging and meaningful introduction led by Prof. Dr. Suhaimi . 🌱week 7 - The Challenges to Sustainable Development

 📖 In Week 7 of SCSH1201, we explored the real-world challenges to achieving sustainable development and how interconnected everything truly is. It really made me reflect: 🧠🌍 Sustainability isn't just about "saving the planet." It's about creating fair, just, and balanced systems for people , economies , and environments  all at once. Our discussions opened my eyes to how inequality, bad governance, and unsustainable practices are the real barriers to a better future. 🌟 Key Challenges to Sustainable Development Some key points that really stood out to me: Inequality everywhere : Access to education 🎓, healthcare 🏥, food 🍽️, and clean water 🚰 is still out of reach for millions. The shocking cow story : A cow in Europe 🐄 gets almost as much subsidy as what a person in Africa earns per day. 🌏✨ Week 10 - Measurement, Indices & Indicators for SDGs

 This week’s class was truly eye-opening 💡 as we explored how sustainability is actually measured. 📍 What I Learned: Sustainable development isn’t just a dream 🌈 it needs data and indicators to track real progress! We explored so many cool indices like: 🌱 Human Development Index (HDI) 🌍 Ecological Footprint 😄 Happy Planet Index 💚 Malaysian Shariah Index (love how it ties to Maqasid Shariah ✨ I also learned to differentiate between types of indicators: context , input , process , and impact indicators . These categories helped me see how every stage of a project from planning to results can be tracked and improved. For example, under SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), it was interesting to see how different levels of outcomes from food parcel distribution to health impacts are measured systematically.
